

Jalapenos De Ybor is located in Historic Ybor City at the northwest corner of 5th avenue and 17th street, just two blocks away from Centro Ybor. Jalapenos was founded in 2006 by Matthew and Alicia Smith. Alicia began cooking the same Mexican delights taught to her by her mother, Eva Romero, when she was just a young girl. These delicious recipes were handed down from generation to generation and have not changed to this day.
The food at Jalapenos is prepared from scratch each morning with a consistency and flavor that is unmatched. Our signature salsas are prepared with a variety of chili peppers and spices blended together to offer the patrons the ultimate in mild and hot salsas. The taco and tostada shells are fried fresh to order and the tamales are prepared each day with a variety of fillings such as pork, chicken, shrimp and guava. These dishes are further enhanced with an ice cold beer or homemade Sangria relaxing in our garden patio.
Jalapenos De Ybor is now owned and operated by Josh Nead who continues to serve the same great food that Alicia made famous. Josh Nead is from Morehead City, North Carolina and has has been working in the restaurant industry for over seven years. He looks forward to continuing the tradition of great food and exceptional service that has become standard at Jalapenos. Every weekday in addition to the normal menu items, there are specials such as chimichangas, enchiladas and chile verde.
